About Lai
Sound begins where the image ends.
I'm a Los Angeles–based sound designer and editor working across narrative film, animation, vertical series, and interactive media. I hold an MFA in Film & Television Production from USC, with experience spanning sound design, dialogue and effects editing, Foley editing, and re-recording mixing.
My approach to sound is rooted in storytelling, with an appreciation for the small details that make a scene feel alive. Through my work on a variety of projects, I've developed a particular interest in Foley editing—shaping footsteps, movement, and prop sounds to give performances a greater sense of physicality and presence. I find the process especially rewarding when these subtle details come together so naturally that they become inseparable from the picture.
Whether I'm building a creature's voice, designing an atmosphere, editing Foley, or shaping a dramatic moment through silence, my goal remains the same: to create sound that supports the story, its characters, and the emotions behind them.
